Squirrel in the Middle of the Road Syndrome

by Carol Hess on April 23, 2012

I’m still reeling from how many people could identify with my last post about fence post-sitting.  Much as I love the company, this is NOT a good thing.  Birds sit on fence posts (and you know what they’re doing while they sit there) – not humans.

If you’re going to transform this world of ours – or at least your own little corner of it – you’ve got to take action.  And fence post-sitting is not taking action.  But you already knew that, right?

I’m not suggesting you take action just for the sake of taking action.  Actually, I’m a bigger fan than most when it comes to honoring resistance.  There have been many times in my life when I didn’t take action on something, and I knew it was the right choice.  Others around me ranted and raved at my inaction (myself included), but I held my ground and did nothing.  And it was the right thing to do.

One time I didn’t honor my resistance, and it ended 10 years later in divorce.  Another time ended in the death of a pet at the hands of an incompetent vet.  So I’ve learned the hard way to honor that voice that whispers, “No, don’t move forward.”

But there comes a time when you know you aren’t honoring resistance.  You know you are frozen in fear, like a squirrel crossing the road.  You know what happens to most squirrels that freeze in the middle of the road, right?

So I have a suggestion for you, my fence post-sitting friend.  Forget about making the grand gesture of jumping off the fence only to fall or fly.  Let’s have you start with one itty bitty, teeny tiny step that won’t trip your fear mechanism too much.  You know – something that lets you loosen your death grip on the fence ever so slightly.

Actually, I’ve got a great suggestion for your teeny tiny step!  It just came to me, honest.  I had no idea I was going this direction.  (You don’t think I actually know where my blog posts are going, do you?)

Sign up for my free teleclass this week.  Seriously.  We’ll be talking about what incredible stars we all are but how we’ve forgotten it.  And what we can do to remember it so we can start allowing ourselves to shine.  A kind of mini Star Polishing 101.

This might be just the thing you need to loosen that death grip you’ve got going on with your fence.  And it’s easy peasy – no money, just an hour of your time, and not that scary because you already know me, right?

See that link below?  All you have to do is click on it to get more information and/or register.  But don’t wait too long.  The class is this Wednesday, April 25th at 8 pm Eastern.  (By the way, it’s called Your Soul Journey: Is It the Missing Piece?)

Yes, it is being recorded, and you can get the recording if you register.  But you and I know the chances are you’ll never listen to the recording.  It will sit there with all the other recordings you’ve never listened to and probably never will.

So do yourself a favor.  Either register for the class and show up for it or don’t register at all.  You’ll drive yourself less crazy that way.  And heaven knows you’re already driving yourself crazy enough just sitting on that fence post.

Here’s the link.  Click on it now (or don’t).  But make a decision one way or the other.  Don’t sit on the fence about it.  LOL  (I crack myself up!)

Okay, Carol, I’m going to loosen my death grip on my fence and check out your class.
