The Race of Your Life

by Carol Hess on December 30, 2011

I can feel it.

Even though I’m sitting here in my bathrobe, looking like a chipmunk that’s packed one too many nuts in her cheek, and popping painkillers and antibiotics like candy, I can feel it.

Can you?

It’s a quickening.  Kind of like that quick little gasp you make when something catches you off guard with how miraculous it is.  Only it feels like the whole planet is making that quick little gasp.

We’re lining up at the starting gate like high-strung, hoof-stomping, nostril-snorting, head-tossing thoroughbred racehorses.  We’re skittish – shying away from the least little noise or movement.  We’re anxious, wired, rearing, bucking, sidestepping, jiggling forward, shimmying backward.

The excitement, the nervousness, the anticipation, the potential is palpable.

A profound stillness descends.  The crowds in the grandstand are silent.  We are motionless in the starting gate, straining against the barrier that holds us back.

All await the sound of the starting gun.

One. . . . .

Two. . . . .

Three. . . .

Bang!

And we’re off!

Thundering down the track – legs pumping, lungs heaving, running with all our heart and soul and power.  Running the race we’ve trained for all our lives.

Knowing we will win.  Knowing everyone will win.  Knowing the planet will win.

2012 – the grandest, greatest race of them all.  It’s almost here.  Are you ready for the starting gun to go off?

What will you run toward in 2012?

What kind of race will you run in 2012?

I do feel it–and I’m very excited about 2012. The race that I run is going to be done in a balanced way and its going to be done from and for love. Hope you feel better soon!

You make an important point, Charlotte — the importance of love in this race of ours. In fact, I think that’s what 2012 is all about, don’t you?

I definitely feel it, and it’s been building for awhile. Stepping into the fullness. Canvassing a wide angle lense view of an earth horizon meeting a brilliant blue + white sky. Feeling the sparks coming alive inside and igniting the universe. Making dreams real and alive. Messages becoming vivid and clear. Streaming banner trails and fireworks, and the quiet joys of insight and revelation. The magnificent bigness of the everyday ordinary. Sun through trees. An array of clouds. Running, being, watching, merging. Brothers and sisters: uplifted, encouraged, loved.
